The day started with three sets of doubles tennis. My partner and I finally won a match and it required winning a third set tiebreak. I believe the score was 6-4, 5-7, 7-6 (7-2). It turned out to be beautiful weather for tennis: sunny and cool. After last night’s thunderstorms, lightning & hail, we were grateful to get it in.
Later in the afternoon, I invited my son, Daniel, to join me in a round of Kenpo X. I’m not exactly sure why, but he agreed to join me in the basement to try it out. Well, he quickly demonstrated to me the advantages of being 18 versus 48 years of age. He went through the entire routine with relative ease, and great coordination. I remember the first time I attempted Kenpo X, I was tumblin’ and stumblin’. And gasping for air. At one point, when Tony advises everyone “at home” to check their heart monitors, Daniel quips something to the effect of: “I guess my heart can go to infinity…” He seemed to enjoy it. I know I had a great time doing something together with him that’s been such a big part of my life this past quarter.
