Round 3 Hybrid, Day 8: Chest & Back; ARX

On Saturday, I had the opportunity to visit with my son, Daniel, and watch the football game at Georgia Tech. It was total domination over Kansas and a beautiful fall day.

But before I went to the game I had a men’s doubles ALTA tennis match I play. Even though I had gotten through my first week of this Round 3 Hybrid with no ill effects to my shoulder, I was a little nervous because I hadn’t engaged in any throwing motion since last week’s injury. Fortunately, the shoulder felt fine playing Saturday’s match. So it must have been an inflammation and not something worse. Oh, and yeah, we won–fortunately in 2 sets so I could get down to the game, only missing the first quarter.

Week 2 began yesterday and with it a head cold, which is the first time I’ve been sick since starting P90X. After the warmup, my head cleared so I could breathe adequately, but it’s a drag to go through a routine knowing you’re not at your best. Despite my being sick, my total power score increased to 251 from last week’s 247. And cumulative, unassisted pull ups increased back to 54, my peak in Week 11, Round 2 Chest & Back.

How’s the heart? Summary results for this workout:

Total Time:  71 minutes (including Ab Ripper X)
Calories:  738 (or 10.4/minute)
Avg Heart Rate: 128
Max Heart Rate:  159
Time in fat burning zone: 19 minutes
Time in fitness zone: 53 minutes

It’s interesting to see with the numbers what I already knew: Chest & Back is easier than Legs & Back, at least the way I do them.
