Round 4 Hybrid, Day 3: Shoulders & Arms, Ab Ripper X


Caught a flying squirrel in a catch and release trap in my attic. They invade my house every year. They’re cute little guys, but I shudder to think of what electrical wires are getting chewed at before they succumb to my peanut butter temptation.

Day 3 of P90X is no doubt the toughest day in the entire 90 day program. Why? Well, because all your muscles are suffering from the effort of the prior two days. Arms, lats & shoulders are sore from Chest & Back. Abs…no sneezing! And legs, specifically my quads and hamstrings, were sore from Ab Ripper X & Plyo Cardio squatting. It’s almost amusing how when warming up I suddenly realize my arms don’t want to go up when attempting jumping jacks. Eventually, though the blood starts flowing and things get better.

I did Shoulders & Arms yesterday in a middle place between the higher weights that I used for the majority of Round 3 and the much lower weight I used in my last effort. It was a good decision and resulted in a challenging effort that didn’t overwhelm me. Interestingly, my abs already felt stronger when doing Ab Ripper X, even though the residual pain from two days earlier was palpable.
